Unity in the Community Day

Where: I.R. Holmes Sr. Recreation Center at Campus Hills (2000 S.Alston Ave)
Why: Celebrate Disability Awareness Month with Durham Parks & Recreation and their partners at the 3rd annual Unity in the Community Day. There will be music, food, vendors offering free services such as wheelchair adjustments, and recreational sports and activities adapted for children with disabilities. Help make this day possible by volunteering to set-up and supervise children's activities like moon walk, bocce, horseshoes, facepainting, etc.  Morning and afternoon shifts will be available so you can participate when you have time or come for the entire event!

Volunteer at the AID Cricket tournament

Why: Volunteer at the annual fundraiser for Association for India's Development - "AID Cricket Cup 2008"

We need volunteers on the day of the event for:
    * Ushering
    * Registration
    * Serving food
    * Scoring games (training provided)
    * Compiling scores (training provided)
    * Photography/videography (Equipment can be arranged if needed)

You would be supporting a wonderful cause by volunteering with us.

Volunteer for Gardening Project at Lakewood Elementary

Where: Lakewood Elementary School, 2520 Vesson Ave, Durham, NC
Why: Our beautification project of the courtyard of this Durham Elementary school continues! Join us as we return to the courtyard to pull weeds, add mulch, plant perennials and seeds to help keep the courtyard blooming. The courtyard is the primary playground for preschool and kindergarten classes. And all students see the courtyard as they walk around the school. A couple of hours of hard work will really pay off by beautifying the space and attracting birds and butterflies. Please RSVP to jfs13@duke.edu.

Then you should join the GPSC Community Outreach Committee! Come to the first meeting, immediately after the GA meeting, for a brief discussion of the fall calendar.The minimum requirement for being a member of the Committee is that you must be responsible for one event during the year. You do not need to be a GPSC Rep!

Green Wave Compost Kick-off

Designer denim jeans and trousers will be sold at heavily reduced prices, including jeans reduced to over half of the retail price! A portion of the proceeds from each pair of jeans sold will fund public interest law fellowships for Duke Law students.
