Why: Volunteer at the Durham Food Bank on Saturday, March 28th from 12pm to 3pm. Warehouse volunteers sort fresh produce into smaller boxes, repackage products from food manufacturers and distributors, and put bulk items into family size portions. I do not know what project we will be doing but it may or may not be messy, so wear comfortable clothes and closed toe shoes. Please contact Jennifer Seger (jfs13@duke.edu) to RSVP and fill out a consent form. By volunteering at the Durham Food Bank, you make a tangible contribution to your community. For every hour worked by volunteers at the Food Bank, 317 pounds of food is distributed to our network of partner agencies who serve the 400,000 people at risk of hunger in our service area. Typical activities include construction, landscaping, and painting. Please contact Christine Kinnier and Genevieve Ricart (habitat-leaders@duke.edu) to RSVP, preferably by Monday, March 30th. If your schedule changes and you are suddenly unable or able to attend, please call Christine at 919-564-6868. Many students have found that they want to volunteer more than once a month or that they are repeatedly unable to attend our worktrip dates due to scheduling conflicts. These students sometimes coordinate their "unofficial" worktrips through our graduate and professional student listserve - habitat4humanity@duke.edu.
