5th Annual DPT 5K Run/Walk

Why: The Duke Doctor of Physical Therapy program is hosting the fifth annual 5K run/walk at 10:00 am on Saturday October 10th, 2009.  The race benefits Easter Seals, United Cerebral Palsy of North Carolina, which provides direct physical therapy services for children and adults with disabilities. In addition, the race aims to raise awareness about physical therapy and promote fitness in the community.  The race also features a 0.1 mile Kids Fun Run, which will be directly before the 5K at 9:00 am. The 5K course is USATF certified and is an out and back course through Duke's west campus.  Post-race festivities include door prizes, raffles, and free therapeutic massages from PT students! The race is sponsored by Duke Medicine Department of PT/OT, Duke University School of Medicine, Duke University Stores, Duke Personal Training, and Graduate and Professional Student Council. Why: Get your 4-person team registered NOW for the DOUGHMAN 2009: Bigger, Batter, Doughier.  The DOUGHMAN is a relay quadrathlon involving 5 of the areas most exciting restaurants and the elements of a traditional triathlon (bike, run, 'swim').  This self-propelled culinary tour of Durham is a lot of fun and 100% of the proceeds will go to a fantastic urban youth leadership program -- the Durham Inner-city Gardeners (DIG, http://www.seedsnc.org/dig.htm).  Registration is filling up fast -- so get registered now at http://www.DOUGHMAN.org.  See y'all on May 23!  The DOUGHMAN will start at 8am at Blu Seafood, and the finish line is at the Durham Central Park.  Awards ceremony will begin around 10:45.  All athletic and eating levels are welcome -- just get your team together.  Vegetarians and vegans welcome too!  After 1 May registration is 100$/4-person team.
