Durham Community
Independent Animal Rescue Volunteer Info Session
Contact: Jen Naylor, naylorjc@gmail.com
Sponsor: Independent Animal Rescue
Where: The Marketplace on Duke's East Campus
Why: Want to help cats & dogs in need in Durham/Orange County? This is your chance to learn how YOU can get involved in Independent Animal Rescue's many volunteer programs - fostering, fundraising, fence-building, feral cat trapping, case management and many others! This event is broken into two parts: a general information session about Independent Animal Rescue (IAR), followed by a detailed foster training session. IAR is an all-volunteer, all-donation funded non-profit organization. In 2007, we were able to help over 1000 animals in the Triangle, and with your help we hope to increase that number this year!
Please contact Jen Naylor if you have any questions about the event (location, content etc.) at naylorjc@gmail.com

Fencebuilding with the Coalition to Unchain Dogs!
Contact: Meredith Barthelemy, mlb38@duke.edu
Sponsor: Coalition to Unchain Dogs
Where: We're at a different dog's yard each Sunday. Contact Meredith (mlb38@duke.edu) for exact addresses.
Why: The Coalition to Unchain Dogs is a non-profit, all volunteer effort dedicated to improving the welfare of dogs living outdoors on chains in and around Durham. Especially now that the weather is colder and drearier, we need lots of volunteers to help build fences and doghouses for chained dogs every Sunday. No experience is needed, just a heart for happier and safer dogs! Our previous fence (11/11) was for a dog, Spot, that had lost an eye after being viciously fought by previous owners. Come out and show your love and support for sweet dogs like Spot by getting him off his chain and in a backyard!
