Duke Intercollegiate Badminton Tournament

Why: Duke badminton club will be hosting a home tournament on April 18th sponsored by GPSC. This tournament is team-based among UNC/NCSU/ECU/RTP/Duke badminton clubs. Each team competition will include 10 matches (2MS 2MD 2WS 2WD 2XD) with a double elimination format between teams.Participants are NOT allowed to attend more than two events, nor two events of the same type, e.g., OK for 1MS 1XD, NOT OK for 2MS. Please register to Shian Ling Keng (shianling.keng@duke.edu) by email if you are interested in participating. Participants playing doubles should also specify their partners. The registration fee is $10 for the first event and $5 for the second one. We will provide eroplane G1130 shuttles for this tournament.

GPSC General Assembly Meeting - Executive Board Elections

Why:

At this meeting we will be electing our executive board members and every graduate and professional student is encouraged to attend, and dinner is provided.  Nominations can be submitted ahead of time by sending an email to gpsc@duke.edu or individuals can be nominated the night of the elections at the general assembly meeting.

Officers will be elected in this order: President, Vice President, Executive Secretary, Treasurer, Attorney General, Academic Officer, Student Life Co-Chairs, Communications Coordinator, Community Affairs Coordinator, Student Group Liason, and Community Outreach Coordinator and position descriptions can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/c3f5jb. If you have interest in more than 1 position, run for the first one you have an interest in from the above order, and if not elected you are welcome to run in any subsequent races. You can be nominated for more than one position, but elected to only one.

Duke University Powwow!

Participate in preparing and eating a good lunch with the fellow students and local residents at the Durham Rescue Mission women’s campus on Saturday, April 4th. Practice or pick up some new cooking skills while learning more about the community of Durham.  All levels of culinary abilities or are definitely welcome, so come for as long as you can.

The Durham Rescue Mission provides year-long housing and educational or training support for people undergoing a transitional period in their lives, often while overcoming drug and alcohol addiction or domestic abuse. Contribute your help and enthusiasm while enjoying the company and fulfilling meal results!
