Duke Med AMA Date Auction

Why: Friday February 13th the American Medical Association will be having its annual DATE AUCTION at Shooters Bar in Durham. As this is the main fund-raising event for the AMA we are looking to have a huge turnout and throw an awesome party. We are auctioning off 15 people from the Duke Med (9), PT (4) , and Law schools (1). Each person is going to come with a gift certificate to a local restaurant. Cover will be five dollars at the door, just say you're with "Duke Med" and there will be drink specials for everyone. NAGPS Legislative Action Days- Application Due Date

Have you ever wanted to interact with politicians, lawmakers and lobbyists in Washington, D.C.? Do you feel passionately about issues related to higher education, graduate/professional education or students in general? Would you like to participate in a tremendous professional development experience that looks great on your resume? Transportation and lodging will be covered, and the trip runs from March 5-6. If you are interested please submit a 500 word or less statement of intent to Alethea Duncan and10@duke.edu by noon Wed. Feb 4th.

The goals of this Legislative Action Days are :
- extended access to match time to degree for federally backed student loans
-better Visa access for foreign students who obtain their graduate degrees here in the US
-inclusive health care reform
-broadening of tax exemptions and deductions for graduate and professional education expenses


GPSC General Assembly Meeting! Provost Peter Lange Speaker
