JOB DESCRIPTION: GPWN PROGRAMMER

The Duke Women's Center is currently accepting applications for one graduate student to provide leadership and programming support for the Graduate and Professional Women's Network (GPWN). The programmer is expected to plan and execute the GPWN Dinner Discussion and Workshop Series – a bimonthly dinner event series held every Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.

This is a fun and challenging part-time position which offers an opportunity to work with women graduate and professional students, faculty and administrators across the university, to promote networking and support among women graduate and professional students and to address social and campus issues relevant to this community of women.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Plan and execute the Dinner Discussion and Workshop Series each semester, including contacting speakers, event set up and break down, evaluations, etc.

· Submit applications for funding each semester and manage GPWN budget

· Promote GPWN and related activities at orientations, publicize events through flyers and email advertisements

· Manage the GRADWOMEN email list

· Facilitate GPWN meetings with planning committee

· Build relationships with other graduate and professional organizations/departments on campus

· Work closely with the Duke Women's Center staff on GPWN and special projects, including attending staff retreat at the beginning of the academic year

· Assess the needs of the graduate and professional women community

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS (ALL DISCIPLINES/SCHOOLS WELCOME TO APPLY)

· Interest/experience in women's and gender issues

· Computer literacy and web skills

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Well organized and detail oriented

· Interest/experience in programming

This job requires on average 3-4 hours per week and will include some evening and possibly weekend hours. The position will begin as soon as possible and is year round.

Nanny/After-School Babysitter Needed for 3.5 year old boy!

Hi Friends,

I just got a new job in Raleigh, but will continue to live in Durham. I am looking for either a nanny or 1-2 students (preferably college) or spouses of students to provide afterschool care for my 3.5 y/o son. He will be attending a Montessori school (near University Dr/Academy Dr) Monday-Friday until 5:00p-5:30pm. I will need someone to pick him up from school and play with him until I get home (which is approximately 3 miles from the school). I may also need to the person to start dinner (and you're welcome to stay and eat!). I need somone who is flexible with the hours--I should be home by 6:30pm most evenings, but may need to stay later (we can talk about this if you are interested in the position).

Hours: M-F, 5:00p (5:30p)- 6:30p (most days)
Please be flexible--I may need to work late a few times (I'll be working at a law firm), so I need the person to be able to stay if I get held up at work (I'll give as much notice as possible.).

Pay: Negotiable (hourly or flat rate)

Qualifications: Experience with funny, cute, irresistible 3 year olds is a plus! If you speak French, even better (my son is bilingual). But having neither will not disqualify you. Please have CPR training, a car (clean record), and references. Thanks!

Bonus: If you are a stay-at-home mom or dad, this might work out well for you---your child(ren) could play with my son and give you a little "alone" time.

A professional, single father in Chapel Hill is looking for someone to help him care for his two busy girls, aged 11 and 14.
