30 volunteers are needed to help out at the Doughman. The event will have four legs: bike, run, swim, and eating at a quintessential Durham eatery. This quadrathlon will benefit SEEDs' DIG program.Visit http://www.seedsnc.org/dig.html to learn more about this great organization. Further information can be found at http://www.doughman.org.

Durham's premier quadrathlon. Part triathlon (bike,
run,"swim"), part competitive eating event. The race will be a team relay with each member eating at a quintessential Durham eatery (Foster's, Nosh, Luther's, or Dain's) followed by an athletic portion (run, bike or "swim"). It culminates with the final "team" leg where the entire team meets for dessert at LocoPops followed by a group dash to the finish line -- located at the Durham Famer's Market.

All this effort is geared towards supporting a great Durham organization, SEEDs, specifically their DIG program (http://www.seedsnc.org/dig.htm). SEEDS and DIG provide -- creative new solutions to community
challenges, quality products, an open and welcoming environment, and a local focus. Come celebrate all the great things Durham has to offer -- great culture, strong community, and delicious foods -- and of course the great work of the DIG program -- by competing in this ridiculous event!

REMEDY at Duke is a volunteer program at Duke University organized to recover usable surplus medical supplies and distribute them via Duke-affiliated projects to areas of need overseas. Each week new surplus materials must be sorted, packed, and inventoried before they are made available for distribution. All volunteers must be 18 or older and complete Duke Hospital compliance and safety training in order to participate.

REMEDY at Duke is a volunteer program at Duke University organized to recover usable surplus medical supplies and distribute them via Duke-affiliated projects to areas of need overseas. The program was started in 1996 by Duke medical students and was known as “Duke Recovers”. In 2003, Duke Hospital adopted an official surplus supply policy and the program adopted the name REMEDY at Duke, modeled after a program started at Yale University. Many hospitals throughout the United States have adopted similar programs as a cost-saving charitable alternative to surplus disposal and storage.

REMEDY at Duke is sponsored by Duke Medical Center and the Duke Global Health Institute (http://globalhealth.duke.edu/). The Global Health Institute also coordinates the donation of surplus medical equipment (machines, monitors, etc) through its “Duke PLUS” program.
