Why:

Looking for a summer internship or service experience, interested in microfinance or social enterprise? INTERNSHIPS UNPLUGGED is a program from the Duke Microfinance Leadership Initiative that gives students interested in working for microfinance organizations a chance to meet others who have experience in the field.

Scott is a junior majoring in International Comparative Studies with a focus in Latin America. But in the summer of 2008, he ventured into Bangladesh on a DukeEngage project working for BRAC, one of the world’s largest NGOs focused on a holistic approach toward poverty alleviation. He attended BRAC’s microfinace, health, human rights and legal education programs and interviewed local individuals whose lives have been transformed by microfinace.
