Recycling Guidelines

Here are the bin use guidelines for the GPSC Recycle Bin Distribution Pilot Program:

1.      Bins will be placed in a generally accessible and visible location within the office or lab, preferably next to the trash receptacle to facilitate ease of use.

2.      The attached flyer outlines materials that are accepted for recycling as part of the Duke University Recycling Program. More information is available at gpsc.duke.edu/recycle.

3.      When bins are full of recycled material, it is the responsibility of the graduate students and members of the lab or office to take the material collected to a central recycling collection station located within the building for further processing by Duke personnel. The locations of collection stations within each building are also available on the website above.

4.      Recycled materials should be separated appropriately at the collection stations. It is the responsibility of the bin users to make sure materials are properly sorted.

5.      Bins should be returned to the office or lab to which they were assigned.

6.      Bins should be maintained in good working order and moderate level of cleanliness.

7.      Bins are not to be used for purposes other than those for which it is intended as part of this pilot program.

8.      The first bin was free, but if you lose it, break it, or otherwise require a new one, there will be a charge of $10 for each additional office recycling bin.
