Duke Athletic Department
This is an umbrella organization of 25 different sports. If you want information on anything from Men's or Women's Basketball to Football to Soccer, this site will tell you about game times and information about players. Graduate and professional students are admitted free to all Duke sporting events other than men’s basketball. Admission to home basketball games is by season ticket, purchased for $150 in the fall by participating in the GPSC basketball campout.
Recreational Facilities
Duke offers an impressive set of recreational facilities, from basketball courts to swimming pools to weight rooms to tennis courts. Check the HPER website for building hours and locations.
Intramurals
Student Sports/Fitness Groups: For sports groups, intramural clubs, and information about recreation facilities at Duke, check the intramural sports web site. This is a great way to stay in shape and meet new people.
Pick-Up Sports
Basketball: Pick-up games are readily found all over campus. Wilson Recreation Center, Card Gym, and Memorial Gym are open for basketball most evenings and weekends.
Jogging, Walking and Running: In addition to the track, Duke offers many pleasant areas for a run. There is a cross-country trail in the Duke Forest which circles the golf course. It also includes a fitness trail. There is an entrance off of 751, and parking is also available at the Washington Duke Inn. Duke Gardens and East Campus also provide excellent trails.
Several students participate in the Godiva Track Club, which provides a way to run with others on local trails.
Ultimate Frisbee: Pick-up games can be found in Forest Hills Park on Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings, and on the Duke intramural fields in the winter. For more information about the Forest Hills games: http://www.cs.unc.edu/~nyland/fhp-disc.html.
