The American Fisheries Society is an international organization whose mission is 'to improve

the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aqautic ecosystems.' Duke Fish,

Duke's Chapter of the AFS, strives to educate people about the importance of sustainable

and local seafood.  We achieve this through education, field trips, community outreach,

and professional lecture series.

patient safety and quality improvement in health care around the world. The Open School

works at Duke to empower future health leaders of all fields with the knowledge and tools

to promote healthcare improvement.


Graduate and Professional Women's Network (GPWN)

The Graduate and Professional Women's Network (GPWN) has four goals: to provide a

space for graduate and professional school women students, professors, administrators,

and community members to network with other women outside of their departments and

schools; to sponsor programs that will teach graduate and professional school women

students skills that will help them succeed in their educational and professional careers

; to provide a forum for discussion of campus and community issues; and to advocate

on behalf of graduate and professional school women students to the Duke administration.

Jewish Medical Student Association

The Jewish Medical Student Association (JMSA) engages the shared cultural

and religious backgrounds of Jewish medical students to search for a deeper

of understanding of what it means to be a Jewish Doctor.  To that end, JMSA

conducts programs that promote an ethic of service, that facilitate frank

discussion of medical ethics, and that explore topics in Judaism relevant

to doctoring

Eugene A. Stead Society

The Eugene A. Stead Society is Duke's Physician Assistant student organization. The

Society keeps Duke PA students informed about developments in the profession and

coordinates activities on the state and national level. Other Society activities include

fund-raising, community service and events to promote public awareness of PAs. All

Duke PA students are members of the Stead Society.


Farmhand

Duke OSA/SPIE Chapter

DOSC is a Duke student organization interested in research in optics and photonics.

We are officially affiliated as a student chapter with SPIE and The Optical Society of America,

two professional societies dedicated to optics and photonics. Our affiliation with these

societies along with the Fitzpatrick Institute for Photonics at Duke provides us with funding

and resources that allows us to engage in many activities related to the exploration and

promotion of Optical Sciences.
