Pediatric dentists
Can anyone recommend a good pediatric dentist--my kids are 5 and 1.5? BTW--I think Drs. Keels and Neal charge about $150 for an initial visit, and this seems too high.
Travel agent specializing in ecotourism, cultural tourism
My fiancee and I are looking into booking a honeymoon to Latin America next summer. We're more interested in cultural and ecotourism (I really don't want to use the term "adventure travel") rather than all-inclusive resort packages, cruises, or escorted tours. Could anyone recommend a travel agent, or means of streamlining the booking process?
Thanks!
Home financing for grad students; Self-Help Credit Union
As a grad student trying to buy a first home, I have run into a great deal of trouble from mortgage lenders who do not understand stipends. My own credit union initially turned me down for a loan, telling me our stipends do not count as income since we don't pay taxes on them! (We do.) Has anyone else had similar troubles? Also, has anyone dealt with the Self-help Credit Union?
Free Recycling of Computers and Other Electronics!
If you've ever tried to dispose of an old computer in an environmentally-friendly manner, you've likely discovered that it can be extremely inconvenient and costly. Some computers can be donated, but there are so many people trying to get rid of computers that many places will only accept donations of relatively new computers (with new processors and large memory cards). I just found a place in North Durham that recycles electronic equipment for FREE if you drop the equipment off at their recycling center. They will also come and pick up items and then recycle them for $25. (Note that this is only if the electronic equipment comes from a residential source, they charge their commercial customers.) A list of items they accept, along with the address and other information, can be found at:
