3. From the Bedside to the Desktop: How Risk is Remaking Medicine (Humanities in Medicine Lecture Series)

Speaker: Jason Karlawish, MD Professor of Medicine, Medical Ethics and Health Policy, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. Lunch provided at NOON; talk begins at 12:10 PM. For much of the modern era, medicine worked at the bedside. But today medicine occupies a new space. Physicians discover diseases and diagnose and treat patients at the desktop. This talk will consider this new model of medicine and its broad implications for medical training, the doctor-patient relationship, and the practice of medicine.
4. Duke Commencement Ceremony with Melinda Gates
When: Sun, May 12th: 10AM-11AM
Location: Wallace Wade Stadium
Melinda Gates, philanthropist and businesswoman, will deliver the commencement address at Duke University on Sunday, May 12, 2013. The Commencement Ceremony will also include remarks from a student, conferring of earned degrees, and other recognitions of honors and awards. The ceremony will be begin at 10:00 a.m. with the procession of students at 9:30 a.m. and will be concluded by 11:30 a.m., at which time the students will participate in their individual school or departmental diploma ceremonies.
5. Exhibition closes: "Light Sensitive: Photographic Works from North Carolina Collections"
When: Sun, May 12th: 12PM-5PM
Location: Nasher Museum
Cost: FREE with Duke Student ID
Last chance to view "Light Sensitive: Photographic Works from North Carolina Collections." This exhibition, comprised of over 100 works from across the history of the photographic medium and drawn from North Carolina collections, reveals how photographers use techniques to persuade us of their vision.

6. Duke Doctor of Physical Therapy Class of 2014- Durham Bulls Ticket Voucher Fundraiser
Deadline to purchase tickets: Tues, May 14th

Cost: $9 per ticket (good for any Durham Bulls Game Sunday-Thursday)

The Duke Doctor of Physical Therapy Class of 2014 will be hosting a Durham Bulls Ticket Fundraiser for tickets to any Home baseball game Sunday through Thursday during the 2013 season. The vouchers you receive from our fundraiser may be redeemed at the Durham Bulls Box office for an available ticket to the game of your choice. The deadline to purchase ticket vouchers is Tuesday, May 14th, and tickets are $9 each. Please make checks payable to: the Durham Bulls Baseball Club and contact Dana Sroka (email@example.com) or any member of the Duke DPT 2014 Class if you are interested in purchasing tickets.

9. Duke University Bicyclist Appreciation Event
