I hope everyone had a phenomenal weekend! Get excited because next weekend GPSC is hosting a Tailgate for the Duke football game! This week GPSC is sponsoring a luncheon series with university administrators. GPSC representatives need to submit their applications to join internal committees. The Sanford Journal is looking for staff editors. Duke Kunshan University (Duke in China) is looking for members for its advisory council. Those are just a few of the awesome events in this week's GPSCNews. Don't forget to join GPSC Student Life's Facebook Page to keep up with all of GPSC's magnificent social events!

1. Tailgate for Duke football vs NC Central
When: Sat, Sept 15th: 4PM
Location: Whitford Parking Lot

Come enjoy the nice weather with GPSC while it lasts. There will be food and beverages provided. Additionally, we will have one cornhole set out for use. Please check the Student Life Facebook Page for any additional updates (weather, location changes, etc.).

2. GPSC Luncheon Series with University Administrators
When: Tues, Sept 11th: 12-1:30PM

Free Lunch Buffet will be provided!
Space is very limited! To register, please write an email entitled "Luncheon Registration-Sep.11", including your full name, school/department, contact info, and any questions for the administrators (optional), to pan.wu@duke.edu.
Context
The luncheon will feature Dr. Li-Chen Chin, Director of Intercultural Programs. She is responsible for providing leadership for the development, implementation and maintenance of policies, programs and services for students, scholars, families and groups with diverse cultures, identities and perspectives. She acts as chief advocate for these groups, and plays a key role in efforts to encourage a global perspective on campus. In addition, she serves as a pre-major advisor for Trinity College.
Speaker: Li-Chen received her B.A. in music from National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei and her M.M. and Ph.D. in music education from the University of Oregon in Eugene. Prior to joining Duke in 2008, she worked in Bryn Mawr College, the University of Pennsylvania, Michigan State University, and the University of Oregon.
I-house offers extensive cross-cultural programming and information to enhance the global mission of the university. Selected events are: Global cafe, the language partners, English conversation club, IHOP, etc

3. GPSC Reps: Committee application
Applications Due: Tues, Sept 11th

GPSC Internal Committees run most of the day to day business for GPSC. They are made up of GA Representatives and other interested members of the Duke community, chaired by a member of the executive board. Occasionally the president may appoint an ad hoc committee for a short term issue or project. All GA Representatives must be a member of an internal committee. To join a committee, please fill out an APPLICATION and email to: Chelsea Gaw.

4. The Sanford Journal Needs Staff Editors
Applications Due: Wed, Sept 12th: 5pm

Dear Duke community,
The Sanford Journal, a graduate student run public policy journal, is looking for staff editors from across the Duke campus. Staff applications are due by 5pm on September 12th. The application is available at http://bit.ly/OYChu9. Or, email us at SJPP@duke.edu to request a copy.
We also invite you to join us for an informational meeting at Satisfactions from 7 - 9pm on September 11th. This meeting will be a great opportunity to learn about how the journal works, and to get to know the senior staff and other potential staff members. No need to RSVP, just show up at Satisfactions.

5. Duke Kunshan Student Advisory Council

The Duke Kunshan Student Advisory Council for Duke Kunshan University, established in Spring 2012, is seeking members from the graduate student community to join with the undergraduate members to advise university leadership on the creation and development of DKU. The Duke Kunshan Student Advisory Council for DKU (KSAC) will provide input and feedback on issues including:
(1) developing academic programs at DKU that address the globally connected world’s opportunities
(2) creating an excellent academic and social environment at DKU that will promote personal development and global citizenship.
KSAC will meet four times a semester Our first meeting will take place in September. I sincerely invite you to make a difference through KSAC. Please fill out the application form: HERE!

6. Graduate Christian Fellowship Friday Dinner Meeting

GCF is the graduate chapter of Intervarsity at Duke. Please join us for our first dinner gathering of the year. Dinner starts at 6 pm and worship with music at about 7pm. Then a talk and/or time of fellowship will follow. Come to our first meeting to find out who we are and what we do! (A $5 donation is recommended, but not required to help with the cost of the meal. This excludes our first time guests.)

7. The Duke APD consulting club new semester kickoff event
