Task Forces

Select Task Forces for 2019-2020

Select Task Forces are convened by the General Assembly to investigate or develop solutions to a particular issue that the Assembly or President has identified, and which have specified terms of authority and a specific time course for the committee to do its work.

Membership to Select Task Forces is open. If you are interested in serving, please contact the GPSC President.

Young Trustee Screening Committee Task Force

The YTSC Task Force shall create a list of metrics and use these to review the process of selecting the YTSC, Young Trustee screening and candidate selection. The task force will provide recommended bylaw changes based upon their investigation.

  • Members from each of the 9 schools shall be represented, and they shall elect a chair amongst themselves.
  • Timeline:
  1. Recommendations for metrics on the review process will be presented to the GA at the last meeting of the fall semester.
  2. A report of the review and subsequent bylaw recommendations shall be presented to the committee at the 3rd meeting of the spring semester.

Resource Directory Task Force

The Resource Directory Task Force will be charged with proposing a scope for a graduate and professional school wide resource directory to be completed by the end of the year. The task force will create a budget for the project, then reconcile university-wide materials and work with a professional to create an electronic database that will be added to the council website.

  • A minimum of 5 committee members will be sat, and they shall elect a chair amongst themselves.
  • Timeline:
  1. The task force will present a scope for the resource directory, name a recommended contractor for the project, and recommend a budget by the last GA meeting of the fall semester.
  2. The task force will provide an update on resource directory progress by the 2nd GA meeting of the spring semester.
  3. The task force will present the finished directory to the GA by the final meeting of the spring semester.

International Student Affairs Task Force

The Task Force on International Student Affairs shall assess issues among international students at the start and throughout the duration of their programs. The task force shall provide one progress report and then a final list of recommendations (these may include but are not limited to legislation changes such as a resolution or standing committee instatement).

  • A minimum of 3 members representing each a masters, a PhD and a professional student will be sat, and they shall elect a chair amongst themselves.
  • Timeline:
  1. An update will be provided at the 1st GA meeting of the spring semester.
  2. Final recommendations will be presented at the 3rd GA meeting of the spring semester.

Sustainability Task Force

The Task Force on Sustainability will identify feasible goals for sustainability in the GPSC by assessing how we can achieve the highest level of sustainability in consideration of our budget and resource limitations.

  • A minimum of 3 members shall be sat, with at least 1 member from the operations committee and 1 member from the student life committee, and they shall select a chair amongst themselves.
  • Timeline:
  1. The committee shall provide an update by the last GA meeting of the fall semester.
  2. The committee shall present recommendations at the 3rd GA meeting of the spring semester.

Parking and Transportation Task Force

The Task Force on Parking and Transportation shall identify concerns relevant to graduate and professional students in terms of parking, green alternatives, mass transit and accessibility. They will provide practical recommendations on how GPSC can work with administration and propose long-standing practices for addressing parking and transportation issues.

  • A minimum of 3 members representing each a masters, a PhD and a professional student will be sat, and they shall elect a chair amongst themselves.
  • Timeline:
  1. The committee shall present an update by the last meeting in the fall semester.
  2. The committee shall present final recommendations at the 3rd meeting in spring semester.
