Join a Presidential Task Force

Select Task Forces are convened by the General Assembly to investigate or develop solutions to a particular issue that the Assembly or President has identified, and which have specified terms of authority and a specific time course for the committee to do its work.

Membership to Select Task Forces is open. If you are interested in serving, please contact the GPSC President.

Join the General Assembly

The General Assembly is the main legislative body of GPSC, and meets regularly to discuss GPSC business, voice concerns, and listen to presentations from University administrators.  Each program and department at Duke University is represented.

The General Assembly Meeting schedule for Spring 2021 is TBD.

Due to COVID-19, all meetings will be held via Zoom from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

All meetings will be in the Learning Hall of the Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans Center for Health Education (except January 28 and February 11, which will be in Fitzpatrick Schiciano 1464A & 1466B) from 6:30pm – 8:30pm.

Join a Committee

All graduate and professional students may serve on External Committees.

The Director of Community Outreach organizes regularly occurring community outreach/service programming and promotes communication and collaboration among campus community service groups.  They have two major focuses: cultivating a sense of community amongst all graduate and professional students, and arranging events for Duke students to engage with the greater Durham community.

The Director of Advocacy focuses on broad issues affecting graduate and professional students at the local, state, and national levels, and keeps the General Assembly members aware of what’s happening, how GPSC is involved, and what they can do to help. They oversee the Advocacy and Diversity Committees, and conduct voter registration.

Student Life

The two Directors of Student Life coordinate and organize social programs for the graduate and professional student community, promote Student Life events through GPSC Newsletter and through social media, and co-sponsor events to foster collaboration among different graduate and professional student organizations.
